February 2025 is the first anniversary since the free Sherburn Wellbeing Walks started.
Run in partnership with Active North Yorkshire, our 7 walk leaders have welcomed 254 walkers along to 42 walks. Only once was a walk cancelled due to heavy rain – in June!
The walks:
- are a gentle stroll of less than an hour and under 2 miles
- make use of local paths and tracks and the specific route is decided on the day to make sure it is accessible for everyone attending
- are all risk assessed and volunteers receive training
- are a great way to keep active, gently build up fitness and a chance to get out, meet people and have a good chat
- are suitable for pushchairs
- usually start and finish at Sherburn & Villages Community Library
- end with free drinks and biscuit
Our leaders and attendees have braved some very hot and cold weather to enjoy the best of Sherburn throughout the seasons.
We have chosen a selection of photos in our video which capture our volunteer walk leaders as it is their enthusiasm and commitment that has made the walks so successful – thank you!
