Community Projects

Sherburn and Villages Community Trust work in partnership with other organisations to make sure that residents of Sherburn and the surrounding area can access services and opportunities and we create and promote activities that support wellbeing.

Our community

Sherburn and Villages Community Trust covers Sherburn in Elmet and several local villages. The map illustrates the area we work across, though we signpost people to organisations in other localities. We also work with partners in Selby and Tadcaster to ensure consistent coverage of support across the district.

What we do

We are the Sherburn in Elmet area Anchor Organisation, designated by North Yorkshire Council. We work in partnership with other organisations to make sure that residents of Sherburn and the surrounding area can access services and opportunities and we create and promote activities that support wellbeing.

Household Support Funding.
Food provision initiatives to support residents who may be struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis. Strands included the distribution of food vouchers, food parcels, pop-up food stalls and educational food sessions.

Wellbeing Walks.
Volunteer-led walks to encourage residents to join regular leisurely walks with shared company. Free walks and light refreshments, removing financial barriers to help ensure they are open to all.

Our staff and volunteers

We have three part-time staff members who dedicate time to community projects; our Library Co-ordinator and our Outreach & Partnerships Officers. As a charity with limited employees, we rely on our amazing volunteers to enable us to deliver successful projects that meet the aims of the Trust and bring our ideas to life.

Our Partnerships

Embracing collaboration and partnerships enables us to deliver community projects by sharing resources, experience and skills for the best outcomes and longer lasting benefits. We work with local schools, charities and businesses whenever there is opportunity and we are involved with a number of partnerships and networks that we believe strengthen the impact we have. Examples of these include:

  • We Are Sherburn
  • Sherburn Visiting Scheme
  • The Anti-Poverty Partnership
  • The Equity and Advice Partnership
  • Community First Yorkshire
  • Community Connectors

We love to hear from prospective partners so please do get in touch if you’re interested in working with us!
