Sherburn and Villages Community Trust are delighted to have been nominated as a ‘Co-op Local Cause’. The Trust will get a donation from the Co-op which will be used to support accessibility improvements and training at our two buildings: The Old Girls’ School Community Centre and Sherburn & Villages Community Trust.
We want to provide access to our facilities for all members of our community who may find it hard to access our services, whether it be from dyslexia or dementia, loss of hearing or sight, physical or mental wellbeing. We have joined Accessible Sherburn, and we wish to develop this concept by ensuring our employees and volunteers can enable every member of our community to join in our wide range of activities. We want to reduce barriers for people who have different types of access needs including neurodiversity and people with dementia, which make our services hard to access. We have undertaken free courses but we wish to have a more in-depth understanding to respond appropriately. To inform our plan, we are undertaking a review of our spaces work with our local Disability Forum.
