150th Anniversary of The Old Girls’ School

During 2026, we’re celebrating the 150th anniversary of the opening of The Old Girls’ School in Sherburn in Elmet. Look out for a series of special events.

The building was saved from likely demolition and transformed into a buzzing community centre in 2018.

2026 calendar

Calendars are now on sale at £6 each to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the school. It’ filled with lots of photos, past and recent, and also references the 50th anniversary of Sherburn Gala.

Available to by from The Old Girls’ School, Cafe 1876 (inside the school building), and Sherburn & Villages Community Library.


Memory book

2026 marks 150 years since The Old Girls’ School was built — a huge milestone for our wonderful building and community. To celebrate, we’re creating a special anniversary book filled with memories, stories, and moments from those who learned, taught, or worked here over the years.
